Educating Our Children: Performing Arts Programs in Washington County

If finding a high school in the St. George area with a strong performing arts program is important to you, your first knee jerk reaction may be to opt for the Tuacahn High School for the performing arts in Ivins.  I have heard praises for Tuacahn since it opened in 1999, and if you check out its website you will see its own list of accolades.  Tuacahn is certainly an option for students who are interested in an education highly focused on the arts.

They have amassed an impressive list of awards and recognition through the years. Students have transferred to Dixie in order to be a part of this program, and their plays are community events.

Also, the orchestra program under Mrs. Candland consistently has students qualify for the all-state orchestra.

There are many options for the students interested in the arts, and of course, one has to consider what other aspects of education and the high school “experience” are important to your student.
